SiCortex Announces Record Growth in Q1 2009
Maynard, Mass. – SiCortex, Inc., today announced quarter-on-quarter revenue growth of more than 100 percent for the period ending March 31, 2009. This growth was driven by the increased demand for energy efficient High Productivity Computing (HPC) systems, bucking the downturn in sales for conventional HPC systems as reported by analyst firm IDC.
“It’s clear that energy efficiency has become a key selling point in the HPC market,” said Chris Stone, president and chief executive officer of SiCortex. “Customers are looking for systems that provide energy efficiency, balance, reliability and performance in their computing environment. SiCortex technology has become the alternative to Intel-based clusters for HPC.”
The company’s total bookings grew 122 percent from Q4 2008 to Q1 2009, with average system values rising by more than 50 percent. SiCortex added ten new customers during the quarter, spanning government projects in the US and Canada, leading universities and commercial entities. The Company also significantly expanded its presence with existing customers. As another metric of success, independent software vendor porting requests more than doubled during the quarter.
New customer Catherine Cooper, associate professor in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Washington State University, commented, “I’m incredibly excited to have the machine installed here. It will perform the calculations that make my research on Earth processes possible. One of the main reasons I chose to purchase this [SiCortex] machine is that it’s engineered to work on much less electricity … the bottom line is that we need to be as efficient as we can, and this machine fits with that goal.”
